You're not alone

Sound familiar?

We've all been here. Too much choice, not enough clarity.

An illustrated, slightly overwhelmed sewist peering over a stack of thoughts

I bought extra fabric... just to make sure I had enough.

I'm sure I've got that pattern at home...

Do I already have purple thread and buttons?

What size 10 pants patterns do I have that would suit that gorgeous wool blend?

The problem isn't the mess...

An open wooden drawer of vintage sewing patterns, unfolded tissue paper and fabric scraps

The drawer was never going to stay tidy.
You unfold the tissue.
Trace your size.
Stuff everything back into the envelope.
Just like a map, once opened they never quite fold the same again.

The drawer doesn't need to be beautiful.
It just needs an index that remembers what's behind it.

What it does

Stop digging through boxes. Start scrolling your phone.

Never wonder "Will I have enough?" again. Match fabric to your patterns and buy with confidence.

What's inside

Everything your sewing room needs, in one place.

Pattern Index module

Scan your patterns

Scan your pattern envelope and let SRPA do the tedious part. Brand, number and garment type from the front. Yardage, fabric requirements and notions from the back — then your collection becomes searchable, sortable and always at your fingertips. And because SRPA knows your measurements and the pattern's sizing, it calculates how much fabric you'll actually need for your size before you buy it. Superior search and sorting capabilities mean less rummaging. Fewer duplicates. Smarter fabric shopping.

Fabric Stash module

Build your stash

Add fabric your way. Just snap a photo and record the colour — or keep a detailed inventory with fabric type, length and usage tracking. See what you've used, what's left and what you already have before you buy more.

Because "I'm sure I have some interfacing somewhere" isn't a great shopping strategy.

Haberdashery module

Track your notions

Know what you've already got before you buy another packet of 20 zips. Keep track of threads, buttons, needles, zips and other essentials — including quantities and colours — so you can check your sewing room stash wherever you are.

Measurements module

Store your measurements

Keep measurements for everyone you sew for, complete with photos and growth tracking for little ones. Then let SRPA compare those measurements with your patterns before you cut a single piece of fabric.

See at a glance which patterns are a good fit, which may need grading and which are probably better left on the shelf.

📝 ✂️ 🧵 📏

Track your projects

From "I really should make this" to finished and photographed, keep every project in one place. See what's planned, what's cut, what's being sewn, what's waiting for a fitting and what's finally finished.

No more wondering "What was I doing with that project?"

Although we make no promises about helping you resist starting three more. 😉

Jane in her sewing room, wearing overalls

I've been sewing for longer than I can remember. Over the years I've collected patterns — some I've never made, some I've made three times, and a great many I forgot I owned.

The app I needed didn't exist so I made it. Now I always know what I have and what I need.

"I hope it gives every sewist — from the passionate beginner to the seasoned collector — less time searching and more time sewing."

Jane's daughter wearing a handmade wedding dress
My most passionate and intricate project — made with love, for my daughter.

My daughter is one of my greatest creations. Not just the wedding dress — though that was my most passionate and intricate project. It's the kind, thoughtful woman she became. The near-perfect grades. The integrity she brings to everything. And watching her be a mum? At that she is exceptional, dedicated and genuinely fun.

She never caught the sewing bug though. My dream of sitting side by side designing and sewing treasures in my happy place never eventuated. Instead, her visits to my sewing room arrived armed with op shop finds that "just needed the shoulders taken in" — or the waist lifted, or a complete remodel. I told you she was smart — why learn the trade when it magically appears on your bed the next day, washed, altered and pressed?

So you can imagine my joy when I found out my first grandchild was a girl. My prayer while she was still in her mother's womb wasn't that she'd become a sewist — just that my sewing room would always feel like a happy place to visit. And that if that spark ever caught, I'd be ready.

DJ had just turned two when I decided she was old enough to come into Nana's special space. We sat on the floor for nearly two hours while she sorted an enormous box of buttons into neatly coloured compartments — focused, careful, genuinely helpful. My heart sang.

I started showing her fabrics I had in mind for her. "What do you think of this one? Do you think it would make a nice dress?" A week later I'd present her with something new. The quiet satisfaction I feel when I hear her say "my Nana made this for me" still makes me smile.

She's three now. While "I'm training her in the way she should go," I'm also making matching dresses for her dolls, party hats, and finding her treasures from my sewing room — showing her that with the right tools and a little creativity, anything is possible.

Which brings me to Sewing Room PA. I've been collecting fabric, patterns and haberdashery for 45 years. Deep down, efficiency and value for money are core values of mine — I want to make the most of what I have. And I want to leave this world with my sewing room in order, so that one day, if she ever wants it, DJ inherits not just a massive mess but a collection of unlimited potential — and the clarity and confidence to use it.

I have a gorgeous grandson now too — whether they ever thread a needle or not, I hope they always know this room and this Nana will always have plenty of room for them. 💜

Every scan SRPA reads uses a small amount of processing, along with photo storage — these are real costs I pay to keep the app running and improving. — Jane 💜
FAQ

Questions sewists actually ask

What if I just want to know what I own — not all the yardage detail?

That's completely fine — front scans are perfect for exactly that. Scan the front of every envelope for brand, number, garment type and a photo. If you ever want to unlock the extra detail the back scan brings, you can add it at any time and the backs will find their fronts!

What does SRPA actually read?

Front scan — brand name, pattern number and garment type, reliably every time. Back scan — yardage requirements by size and fabric width, fabric recommendations and notions. Behind the scenes, back scans use a more powerful AI model for extra accuracy.

Is my collection safe?

Your patterns, fabric and measurements are stored securely in the cloud. You can access them from any device, with regular backups so nothing gets lost.

Does it work on Android, iPhone, desktops, PC and Macs?

Yes — Sewing Room PA works in any browser. No app store download needed.

What's coming next?

Once your patterns and fabric are sorted, you'll be able to select any you'd like to sell and share them with a link instantly. Sew What? — automatic fabric-to-pattern matching — is also on its way.
